Having Infertility Issues?

Growing up I always pictured my life including getting married and raising a family. I married my husband in 2001 and we both agreed that children would be in the near future for us. But I began to suspect that there may be something wrong: irregular, light periods and just a "hunch" something was not right. A visit to the OB/GYN and some testing proved me right. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). In addition we discovered that my husband (despite having a child from a previous relationship) had low sperm count and low motility.

The doctor explained that fertility is a quotient between couples. For example, say the maximum fertility is considered a "10". One partner could have lower fertility say a "3", but the other partner may be a "7" and since together they are a "10" they will likely be able to conceive with no problem. However if both partners are "3" then you may have an issue. So we proceeded to the next step which is a fertility specialist or "Reproductive Endocrinologist". First, they put me on Metformin, since PCOS is based on insulin resistance. This alone apparently works for some people, but all it did for me was make me very sick.

Next we moved on to oral fertility medication such as Clomid. Clomid did help me to develop nice large follicles to ovulate, but still no pregnancy. Doctor after doctor, medication after medication, and more money than I care to think about later we still did not have a baby. We even went through three unsuccessful IVF (in-vitro fertilization) cycles (one did result in an early miscarriage) before we realized that there must be something that we were missing. We were ready to give up but decided to try one more time.

We decided to try a different approach this time. I wanted to try to add a holistic component to our treatment. Before our IVF cycle began, I did some research and found some different vitamins and Ayurvedic herbs that would help to put both me and my husband in the best possible health and position to be successful this time. I was skeptical as it had been 9 years at this point with no success, but was willing to try anything to make this work. I will tell that we overcame our 9 year struggle with infertility through a balanced method of Ayurvedic principles, herbs, diet and healthy life style.

Good luck!
