Will boxing fans and tech geeks come together at the multiplex to form the most unusual crossover demo ever? The filmmakers behind Real Steel seem to think so. The latest trailer for Hugh Jackman?s action drama, embedded above, makes the movie look like The Fighter meets Transformers.
In the clip, Lost star Evangeline Lilly provides the exposition: Charlie Kenton (played by Jackman) used to be an almost-champion boxer until those darn robots took over the sport. Charlie orchestrates a comeback with the help of his estranged son (Dakota Goyo) and a blue-eyed robot named Adam. Discovered as a ?baby,? Adam is programmed to only be a sparring partner, but Jackman and son train the machine to become a contender just in time for the big fight.
Directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum), Real Steel opens Oct. 7.
